The Verve - ‘Urban Hymns
'
Front Cover

Image - The images is of the band itself.  They have used a very simplistic image of themselves, similarly to The Kooks Front cover They aren't looking at the camera, which suggests that they think that the music is more important.  They are a very stereotypical indie band.  We can see this because, not only can you tell that they haven't been costumed but they have floppy hair.  Its in a nice setting which is easy on they eye.

Copy - The typography used is fairly simplistic however, its a slightly different font to the other album covers  This is their usual recognizable font so they are consistent with their albums.  The album title 'Urban Hymns' is placed just under the logo in black block capitals, which stands out against the white sky background.

Target Audience - I think that their target audience is late teens/early adults.  I think this because of their youthful appearance such as their floppy hair and casual clothing.
Representation - I think the main representation has empthasis on youth.  I think this because, it seems their sitting in a park, which is stereotypically what young people do to have fun.

Images of Band/Artist presented - All of the band are presented on the front cover however, they aren't making contact with camera which, leads me to believe that the empthasis is more on the music and not their appearance.

Back Cover
They have used a simple plain black background with the track listings neatly placed near the centre in white.  The white contrasts with the black as, white connotes purity and black the opposite.  The black background also puts emphasis on their masculinity.  Also the fact that theirs more black than white may suggest that their mainly 'bad' rather than 'good'.

Inlay

Top Inlay -  Completely black with no image.

Bottom Inlay - Another image showing their youthfulness and immaturity, which helps to attract their target  audience. They are see to be having fun and they are all photographed smiling
