Oasis - 'Time Flies'
Front Cover
Image - The image used on the front cover of this album i think is quite simple. It apppears to be a photo taken during one of their gigs from their perspective, which straight away gives the album a more personal tone. The photograph is of a very large group of people listening to live music at a festival. The image also helps to reinforce that oasis are and indie/alternative band as sterotypically indie/alternative bands perform mainly at music festivals. The logo is at the top of the cover in black and white which helps it to stand out against the white sky.
Copy - The typography on the front cover is limited and simplistic. Similarly, to The Kooks Album cover the typography is simple and easy to read. The album title has been written in black block capitals in the centre of the album, which helps its stand on the background, which immediatly helps to grab their target audience's attention.
Target Audience - This album would be appealing to both the older and younger generation. I think this because, for the older generation it would bring back memories from their youth. This also reiforces the album title 'time flies'. In regards to the younger generation, this image would also be appealing because the majority of them will have been to some kind of music festival at some point
Tagline/Title - No tagline has been used on this album, because the image grabs the audience's attention.
Representation
Enigma - Due to their being no appearnace of the band on the front cover and the large audience they have creates enigma, as this causes the audience to think that the band must be pretty good if they have an audience that big.
Image of Band/Artist Presented - No images of the band have been used of the front cover this album which suggests that the music is more important to them and pleasing their fans, rather than their appearance.
On the back cover the track listings have been placed messily near the bottom of the right hand corner, which helps to emphasize the reckless background image. The tracks haven't been labelled numerically like most albums however, instead the way the tracks are written vary in size and font, perhaps interpreting their ability to satisfy a large variety of people.
The image used on the back of this album cover contrasts with the image used on the front, because they are completely opposite. It shows the chaotic aftermath of the festival . Unlike the front cover which was bright and happy, the back cover has the use of sepia which creates a harsher tone compared to the front cover , which was easy on the eye.
