Florence and The Machine - 'Lungs'
Front CoverImage -The main image on the front cover is the main member, Florence Welsh, she is displayed in the centre looking away from the camera. This could be showing that the contents of the album has no real emotion in it, and that she has no deep relation to the songs. Her attire is simple, a blouse, however it is covering lungs which are tied around her neck. There is a link between the lungs tied around her neck, and the name of the album.

CopyThe name of the band is at the top of the CD cover in the font that is always used for the name of their band. The font colour is white which stands out behind the dark background. The colour connotes softness and a classy feel the the album. 'LUNGS' is displayed at the bottom of the CD cover, covering the lungs Florence is wearing around her neck.

Target AudienceI would say that the album is targeted at late teens and young adults, who like/enjoy listening to indie music,  as the front cover is welcoming and outspoken and also due to the reference to the human body.

Genre
The freedom which is displayed is a continuous style that bands from this genre display. You get a vintage feel from the blouse and the back drop behind her, this is a stereotypical link to indie fans. The consistency of the black colour represents a rock side to the album, the album has a authenticate feel to it.  The album phenotype is very unique which is generic to the indie genre.

Representation - I think that gender has been represented on the front cover, as flowers and light colours have been used, which stereotypically relates to females.

Enigma - Enigma is created instantly with the image of Florence and the lungs on her chest, which causes the audience to pose questions.

Images of Band/Artist presented - The artist is present on the front cover which shows that her appearance is important and that perhaps she cares more about of own appearance rather than the music.

Back Cover
The back cover image is a diagram of lungs, each song is labelled a part of the different sections of the lungs. This could portray how educated she is and she's intelligent, it could also link to the stereotype of indie fans; ingenious. It relates to the album name.  Less is more, a simple white coloured font against a dark background. It shows the simpleness of the album, which is generic to the indie genre yet the font style is more fancy, showing a more exciting and adventurous side to the album.

Inlay

Top InlayThe image on this appears to be from a gig, which helps her to create a connection with the audience, as due to the age range of her target audience . This shows that her fans are a big part of her music and she appreciates their support because she is holding hands with them allowing them to touch her, which suggests that she doesn't see herself as more important.

Bottom Inlay  - The material which is draping is what is used on the front cover behind her. The flowery pattern connotates femininity, there are also additional flowers which can imply that the album has a slight sophisticated side to it.
