Kate Nash - 'Made of Bricks'

Front Cover

ImageThe colours on the front cover are very bright and stand out, the red colour of the dress stands out well in front of the other colours so you can clearly see the artist putting a lot of focus on Kate. The image is very child like, also the yellow house ties in well with the album name. The red dress connotes danger, but the way she is presented it can also connote passion and love. The horses and flowers bring out the femininity in the album and show a more unique adventurous side to the album.

CopyThe font used is very playful and child like, which matches very well with the image. The typography is white, which makes it stand out very well behind the darker colour as it also connotes innocence and simpleness, again, like a child.

Target Audience - I would say this album is aimed at teenagers because of the child aspects, such as the hand written like text style and also because of all the bright colours. However, the target audience could also be people who like the genre of music and have liked her past songs/albums. It could be also aimed at people who are of a similar age to Kate as they can relate to her songs because they may be in the same position/time in their life.

Genre
The genre is shown through the artist, Kate Nash, being displayed on the cover. Like most indie-rock/pop digipaks they always tend to have the artist/band on the cover so they are recognizable. A stereotype for indie is quirkiness, which this album has a lot of as it is very different and would stand out amongst other albums. Which is what I feel that most indie bands/artists try and achieve, to prove that they are different.

Representation -  I thinnk that age has mainly been represented on this cover, as although she is a fully grown women, the colours and style of the colours suggest that she is still in touch will her child like side.

Enigma - The title of the album immediatly creates enigma, as its quite different , which causes the Audience to pose questions.

Images of Band/Artist presented - The artist is present on the front cover, which suggests that her appearance is important to her.

Back Cover

The blue background puts across simplicity of the album and goes with the colour code, as the blue has also been used on the front cover. It also makes the white text stand out amongst it. The text style is the same as on the front. the handwirtten like style is very childish and playful. They are placed in a certain way, but because of the text style is looks messy. This also linking to the child like feel the album gives.
